NR 40 Helps to Slow the Spread of AIS
NR 40 took effect September 1, 2009. The purpose of NR 40 is to establish a consistent and comprehensive classification and regulatory system for all listed invasive species.
With regards to what this means for aquatic invasive species, the laws under NR 40 will prohibit:
- The transportation of any vehicle, including boats and trailers, on a public highway with aquatic plants or aquatic animals attached, and
- Require removal of aquatic plants and aquatic animals and draining of all water from any such vehicles or equipment immediately upon removal from the water and before leaving any boat launch or parking area, and
- Prohibit the placing of any boat, vehicle, or equipment into waters of the state (statewide) if they have any aquatic plants or aquatic animals attached.

Tornado Siren
The siren will sound continuously for 3 minutes for a tornado warning. It does not sound for a tornado watch nor does it sound an all clear after the dangerous weather has passed. The county tests all of the tornado sirens on the first Saturday of each month at 1pm for a short interval.
Tornado watch means weather conditions are right for a tornado to form in your area.
Tornado warning means a tornado has been sighted and is moving in your direction; take cover in a protected area immediately.
Neighborhood Watch
A neighborhood watch group has been established by the Waushara County Sheriff and local residents. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to join whether they are a year round or seasonal resident. Contact Ron Lungwitz at 920-566-4901 or ronwlungwitz@yahoo.com
